• Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Alcohol may thin blood, which increases your risk of bruising.
• Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications, ideally for 2 weeks before treatment.
• Avoid medications and supplements such as Aspirin, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve,Vioxx, and other NSAIDs are all blood-thinning medications and supplements. This can increase the risk of bruising/swelling.
• Discontinue Retin-A two (2) days before and two (2) days after treatment.
• If you develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. prior to your appointment, please contact us to reschedule.
• If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

You may experience minor swelling, bruising, and some tenderness at the injection site. This will subside over the next 2 weeks. Please note, this is an incredibly low-risk procedure and issues are very uncommon.

We’ll go over post-care instructions for PDO threads in Waxhaw during your consultation and before you leave on the day of treatment. A few pointers include:

• Avoid exercise for 24 hours and intense workouts for 1 week.
• Pain at the injection site(s) is normal- this may last 1-2 weeks after treatment. You may occasionally also feel a stinging sensation as the solid filler threads settle in. This is normal.
• Minor swelling, bruising, and some tenderness should be expected. A tight feeling and pulling sensation is normal for 2-4 weeks after the procedure. The threads are still brand new, tight, and working to produce collagen!
• If you see any irregularity or puckering skin on the treated areas, you may gently massage those areas in circular motions. You may repeat this 3 to 5 times a day. Call our office if any threads start to extrude from your skin.
• Call the office if you experience increased redness, swelling, or pain at an injection area.
